Fiscalapi

Mexican RFC validator

Check the structure of an RFC (Mexico's taxpayer ID) right in your browser. It covers the RFC of an individual (persona física) or a legal entity (persona moral), and the generic RFCs, domestic and foreign.

Need to check an RFC against the SAT's lists?

This tool validates the structure of the RFC and doesn't confirm that it's registered with the SAT (Mexico's tax authority). To check whether an RFC appears on the Lista 69-B (the SAT list of taxpayers presumed to invoice nonexistent transactions) or the Lista 69-B Bis (the SAT list of taxpayers presumed to have improperly transferred tax losses), use the Fiscalapi CFDI validation API.

How an RFC is structured

Individual (13 characters)

4 letters from the name, 6 digits for the date of birth in YYMMDD format, and 3 alphanumeric homoclave characters. Example: VECJ880326XXX.

Legal entity (12 characters)

3 letters from the legal name (as registered with the SAT), 6 digits for the date of incorporation (YYMMDD), and 3 homoclave characters. Example: FIS220101XXX.

Generic domestic RFC

XAXX010101000. You use it on CFDIs (Mexico's electronic invoices) issued to the general public (customers who did not ask for their own CFDI) when the recipient doesn't provide their RFC.

Generic RFC for foreign residents

XEXX010101000. You use it when the CFDI recipient is a foreign resident and doesn't have a Mexican RFC.
